What makes Congruence Counseling different?
We use integrative, evidence-based modalities. We work to empower the client, help achieve congruence and well-being. But most importantly we meet each client where they are on their path to well-being, match their needs with level of treatment, and work to find appropriate settings - even if it is not at Congruence Counseling.
We understand the unique needs of the clients we treat, and the vital role they play in their families.
We assist exceptional and advanced individuals, as well as high-profile clients, with stress reduction and mindfulness techniques.
We offer organizational consultation with leadership transitions, educational trainings and strategy implementation, as well as private-education consultation.
What is counseling?
The basic definition of counseling, to provide assistance and guidance in resolving personal, social, or psychological problems and difficulties, is exactly what we do at Congruence Counseling; provide guidance and assist you in the process to congruence.
Why is "diagnosis-free counseling" important for me?
Diagnosis-free counseling means that our therapists work with you on the issues and concerns you, or your child/family, face without focus on a diagnosis. We are able to offer a diagnosis, when requested and where appropriate. However, the option of "diagnosis-free counseling" is often important to our clients who value their privacy and prefer to avoid a label being attached to their long-term medical history. The parents of our young clients also appreciate the option of receiving support and treatment without a medical diagnosis following their child throughout life.
Do I need therapy?
Everyone can use a little help sometimes and it takes strength to ask for it.
What is the fee schedule?
We are a private pay practice, which means that we do not contract with insurance companies. This allows us to treat each client as an individual and base services on what is needed, as opposed to what the insurance company will reimburse. As a private pay practice we are able to offer personal services such as concierge therapy, in-home visits, school visits, and teletherapy based on specific client needs and preferences. Each therapist at our practice has a different skill set and level of experience, therefore session fees vary between $90-$125/50 minute session. Discounted sessions are available with Graduate Student Interns, under the supervision of Katherine Biggs, at $25/50 minutes.
We accept cash, check, credit card, Health Savings Account (HSA) and Flexible Spending Account (FSA) cards.
What should I expect from a counseling session?
There is a couch in our office, you can lay down if you would like, but we won't make you. There is often a great deal of anxiety surrounding the unexpected in regard to therapy. When you arrive in our office you will find a welcoming and comfortable environment. Much of your first visit will be spent getting to know your counselor, and discussing questions and concerns. At the end of the session, if you feel comfortable with the counselor and the suggestions, you may schedule additional meetings.
Please remember, the most important factor in the counseling process is the client-therapist relationship. So if you are not comfortable with your therapist, please let us know and we will help find someone to suit your needs.
